Tigers Bounce Back
The Welland U14A Tigers took on the West Niagara Flying Aces Saturday at home, following a heartbreaking last-minute loss to Glancaster the week before. Battling some illness and injuries, the Tigers were eager to earn an important 2 points to head towards the Holiday break on a positive note.

The Tigers immediately displayed the energy they have been looking for throughout the season as they pushed the initiative throughout the first period. Only allowing a few shots throughout the frame and building off of two goals from Diomin and Seguin, assisted by Garofalo/Schertzing and Forrester/Bassi respectively, the Tigers headed into the second with a commanding 2-0 lead. The pressure did not stop, as goals from Diomin (2) and Jones from Garofalo (2)/Schertzing (2) and Bassi (2)/Hudak brought the Tigers up to 4-0. A defensive break on a faceoff gave the Flying Aces their first breath of life, capping off an otherwise perfect two periods 4-1 for the Tigers.

The third period saw much of the same, with back-and-forth action and strong play from the Tigers. Goals by Schertzing and Jones (2) from Ebert/Channon and Channon (2)/Rousseau capped off an impressive game at home. Butera was also solid in net, saving 19 of 20 shots faced.

The Tigers defended the house and look to take the action back to West Niagara at Peach King Arena on Wednesday, hoping to enter the holiday break with a win then and on the Saturday upcoming.
