Tigers Go 1-2 in 4-Day Stint
The U14A Tigers had a busy weekend, playing 3 games in 4 days in preparation for their Silverstick Regional Tournament in Woodstock next weekend. With games against Glancaster, West Niagara, and Haldimand, the Tigers finished 1-2 in the stint.

The Tigers first shipped out to Glancaster, facing a winless side in hopes of getting back into the win column after a close-fought loss to St. Catharines. The Tigers started out hot, scoring 5 goals in the first two periods to jump out to a 5-0 lead headed into the third. Goals scored by Seguin (2), Diomon, Hudak, and Schertzing with assists from Schertzing (2), Bassi (2), and Jones started the Tigers off right, until penalty trouble gave Glancaster a chance to come back in the third. Butera holding down the fort in goal, along with a strong penalty kill throughout most of the period helped the Tigers scrape out a 5-3 win away.

Next the Tigers hosted West Niagara at Welland Main, looking to build on their last win against Glancaster. Once again coming out to a good start, the Tigers made it to the third period leading 2-1 with goals from Diomin and Schertzing and an assist from Jones. Penalty trouble once again opened the door for West Niagara, who tied the game on the powerplay and ran away with the scoring late into the third, winning the game 6-3 and handing the Tigers their third loss of the season. A goal from Hudak with assists from Jones (2) and Dean were not enough to stay in the game.

The final game of the stint saw the Tigers take on Haldimand at home Monday night, hoping to take down the first place River Kings. For the third time in a row, the Tigers started hot, taking a 2-0 lead midway through the second with goals from Diomin and Marleau, and assists from Bassi and Forrester. The game got away from the Tigers, with defensive flaws being exploited by the strong Haldimand offence. The game ended 8-3 for the River Kings, with the last Tigers goal being scored by Hudak, assisted by Bassi.

The Tigers look to win big in Woodstock this weekend for the upcoming Silverstick Regional. Highlights of the season so far see strong performances from both Tigers goalies, Diomin on a 6-game goal streak, great defensive efforts, and hot offense to start most games.
