Newmarket International Silver Stick Championships
The Welland Minor Atom “A” Shadow Auto Tigers played hard but were defeated in the semi-finals of the International Silver Stick Championship over the weekend. The Tigers (currently ranked 5th in Ontario) fell to the New Hamburg Huskies who are the #1 ranked team in Ontario. The Tigers defeated the Huskies 3 games to 1 last year in the OMHA semi-finals to earn a birth in the finals against the South Point Capitals. 

The Tigers faced off against the Essex Ravens (currently ranked 4th in Ontario) in game one and came out flat eventually losing 3-2. Jackson Gallagher-Temple was in goal for the Tigers. Scoring for Welland was Dylan Wood and Sebastien Boucher, Ethan Rousseau picked up 2 helpers while Brayden Farr and Jordan Hotham eached notched an assist.

The Trenton Blades were the second opponent for the Tigers who came out of the gate flying. The Tigers emerged victorious 8-3 and Thomas Russell picked up the win. The Tiger's offence was lead by Liam Seguin with 3G and 2A, Jordan Hotham with 1G and 2A, Dylan Wood with 2G, Sebastien Boucher and Blake Hudak each with 1G and Ethan Rousseau, Brayden Farr, Antonio Mete, Brody Channon and Cooper Ebert each with 1A.

Game 3 pitted the Tigers against the Newmarket Redmen where the Tigers put together their most complete game of the tournament winning 13-2. Jackson Gallagher-Temple earned the victory in net. The Tiger's offence was led by Jordan Hotham with 4G and 2A, Liam Seguin with 3G and 2A, Ethan Rousseau with 1G and 2A, Antonio Mete with 3A, Dylan Wood wit 2G, Cooper Ebert and Blake Hudak each with 1G and Ryan Rousseau and Sebastien Boucher picking up assists.

The Don Mills Mustangs were next for the Tigers who had already earned a birth into the semi-finals. The game ended in a 2-2 tie with Thomas Russell in net for the Tigers. Scoring for the Tigers was Liam Seguin with 1G and 1A, Jordan Hotham with 1G and Sebastien Boucher and Cooper Ebert picking up an assist each. 

The Tigers played well in the semi-finals but could not combat the high powered offence of the New Hamburg Huskies eventually falling 4-0. Jackson Gallagher-Temple was solid in goal. The Huskies ended up winning the International Silver Stick finals defeating the Essex Ravens 6-2.
