The Tigers Take the Title
The Welland Minor Atom “A” Shadow Auto Tigers competed in the Greater Fort Erie 2019 Fall Classic and emerged as champions when the tournament was over. The team played with grit and determination the entire weekend eventually shutting down the power house St. Thomas Junior Stars to claim the title.  

The Tigers faced off against the Riverside Rangers in game 1 of tournament action and skated to a 7-2 victory with Jackson Gallagher-Temple patrolling the crease.  The Tiger's offence was led by Jordan Hotham with 2G and 3A, followed by Liam Seguin with 2G and 1A, Dylan Wood with 1G and 1A, Ryan Rousseau with 1G and 1A, Kingsley Lachnit with 1G, Ethan Rousseau and Sebastien Boucher each with 1A.  

Game 2 saw the Tigers play a very tough Guelph Gryphons team who held them to a 2-2 draw heading into the 3rd period. The Tigers then exploded for 7 goals in the final frame to emerge with a 9-3 victory. Thomas Russell earned the win between the pipes.  The Tiger's offence was led by Dylan Wood with 2G and 2A, Ethan Rousseau with 2G and 2A, Jordan Hotham with 1G and 2A, Liam Seguin with 2G, Mark Chambers and Antonio Mete each with 1G and Blake Hudak, Basil Garofalo, Brayden Farr and Ryan Rousseau all with 1A.

Saturday morning was the first meeting between the Tigers and the St. Thomas Junior Stars.  The Stars took it to the Tigers, eventually earning a 5-2 victory. The Stars high powered attack was lead by Zackary Clark who potted 4 goals. For the Tigers, Kingsley Lachnit had 1G and 1A, Ethan Rousseau had 1G and Basil Garofalo had 1A.  

The Tigers ended round robin play against the Erindale Spitfires and fresh off a loss, got back to their winning ways filling the net 9 times while only allowing 1 against.  Thomas Russell was excellent when called upon and made many big saves in goal. The Tigers offence was led by Jordan Hotham with 2G and 2A, Liam Seguin and Kingsley Lachnit each with 2G, Dylan Wood with 1G and 2A, Mark Chambers and Blake Hudak each with 1G and 1A, Ethan Rousseau with 2A and Brayden Farr and Basil Garofalo each with 1A.

Emerging second after round robin play, the Tigers faced the #1 ranked St. Thomas Junior Stars in the finals. The Tigers took it to the Stars right from the drop of the puck dominating play and hemming them in their own zone. The Tigers entered the final period with a 3-0 lead and continued to hold the opposition off the score sheet until the Stars scored a powerplay goal with 10 minutes left in the game. Less than a minute later, the Stars potted an even strength goal cutting the lead to 3-2. After a short time out, the Tigers were able to refocus and again tilt the ice in their favour controlling possession of the puck for the majority of the final 9 minutes of action. Jackson Gallagher-Temple who was solid all game and backstopped the Tigers to the Championship, made key stops at key times in the game. The Tigers offence was led by Liam Seguin with 2G, Ethan Rousseau with 1G and 1A and Jordan Hotham and Kingsley Lachnit each notching 1A.
