St. Catharines Early Bird Tournament
The Welland Minor Atom "A" Tigers were finalists in the St. Catharines Early Bird Tournament held this past weekend.

The Tigers went 4-0 during the round robin with convincing victories over St. Catharines (11-0), the LPC Wild (9-0), the Woolwich Wildcats (4-0) and the Oakville Rangers (6-2). The Tigers were then met by a tough Niagara Falls Flyers team and narrowly escaped with a 5-4 win which gave them a birth in the finals.

Unfortunately for the Welland Tigers, facing the Woolwich Wildcats for the second time would prove to be much more difficult as they fell in defeat, 3-0, the only game that they were unable to find the back of the net. Welland had to settle for second in the tournament but many successes were had. Each of Welland’s goalies (Thomas Russell and Jackson Gallagher-Temple) earned their first wins and shutouts of the season and Welland scored a remarkable 35 goals in the 6 games played. Congratulations Tigers.

The overall player’s stats for the tournament were: Liam Seguin – 11G 2A, Dylan Wood – 4G 6A, Kingsley Lachnit – 3G 7A, Ryan Rousseau – 6G 3A, Ethan Rousseau – 5G 2A, Brayden Farr – 3G 2A, Jordan Hotham – 2G 3A, Hudson Bassi – 3A, Basil Garofalo – 3A, Antonio Mete – 2A, Blake Hudak – 1G, Sebastian Boucher – 1A, Cooper Ebert – 1A, Brody Channon - 1A, Mark Chambers - 1A
