The Sunday matinee would see Welland and Cambridge face off in the Championship game. Harrison Doan would score 30 seconds into the game as this would be Welland’s only lead of the game. After the goal it seemed to be all Cambridge as they would score not too long after falling behind. Myles Chew would try to hold the fort throughout the game as a few unfortunate penalties would hamper any Welland momentum. Cambridge would score with about 5 minutes left and that was pretty much that. The Tigers wouldn’t give up but they just couldn’t get it done. An empty net goal which slid all the way down the ice would seal the victory for the Hawks. The Tigers would walk away proud as they had a heck of a weekend, playing some pretty good teams along the way. The Tigers showed their resilience as they played through some adversity. Welland will return to their regular schedule this week as they host Stoney Creek next Saturday.
