On Sunday afternoon, the Welland Midget Tigers hosted Vanersborg Hockey Club, from Vanersborg, Sweden.

On Sunday afternoon, the Welland Midget Tigers hosted Vanersborg Hockey Club, from Vanersborg, Sweden. The Swede’s would be a fast, strong on their feet, and skill driven type of team. They were well disciplined and the tempo of the game was excellent. Myles Chew and Zach Pern would split the duties in net and both played extremely well, making the important saves. It took until the last minute of the 2nd period for anyone to take the lead. Jack Moormann would come in to the slot and put it to the roof to make it 1-0. Another important lesson learned as Welland would again take care of business when having a team on the ropes. Max Naso would keep up the pressure while killing a 4 on 3. He would poke the puck free and score on the breakaway to make it 2-1. Luka Turkovich and Hayden Scott would round out the scoring for a 4-1 final. Welland would like to thank Vanersborg for making the trip to Welland to play an exceptional game of hockey. The Tigers travel to Grimsby Monday night.
