Tigers Capture NJPE Thanksgiving Tournament Championship
The Welland Buckner's Source for Sports Tigers ran the table with a perfect 5 and 0 record to capture the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles Tournament this past weekend.
The Tigers defeated Webster 11-1, the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles 5-0 and the Hamburg Hawks 7-1 in the round-robin. Lucas Taylor recorded his second shutout of the weekend during the 4-0 semi-final win over Webster and Welland took home the title with a 6-1 victory over the host Purple Eagles in the Championship game.
Welland then knocked West Lincoln Wrath from top spot in the standings with a 6-5 win in their return to regular season action. Quinten Hemauer netted three and was joined on the scoresheet by Simon Guglielmi, Mitchell Tomaino and Jeffrey Bisson. The Tigers now sit in third place with a record of 11-3-1.
