Stars Align For A St. Thomas OMHA Semi-Final Berth
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers came within minutes of forcing a fifth game in their six-point series with top-ranked St. Thomas (47-17-5) but it will be the Stars moving onto the OMHA Semi-finals after an overtime victory on Saturday afternoon in Welland.

The Tigers have put forward a herculean effort in each of the four games of this round, holding the potent offence of the Stars largely in check and keeping them off the scoreboard in seven of the fourteen periods contested.

Welland was able to open the scoring for the first time this series when Chace Buti put the home side into the lead with 4:30 remaining the opening period. The scoreboard would remain frozen at 1-0 until William Wright netted the equalizer with three minutes left to play in regulation time. Luke Ordronneau played the villian (or hero, depending on your perspective) by recording the game-winning goal with 2:20 to play in the sudden-victory extra frame.

The Tigers have every right to hold their heads high after putting forth another great performance against an excellent team and making their entire organization and city extremely proud. On behalf of the Tigers organization, we wish St. Thomas all the best in their continuing journey towards #RedHats as they represent the OMHA equally well and are formidable and classy opponents in their own right.
