Tigers Roar Past Falcons
Tyler Laszlo and Tanner Cutler scored twice each and Chace Buti recorded the other tally as the Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers defeated the Garden City Falcons 5-3 to conclude the 2019-20 edition of the Battle of Highway 406.

After Connor Shields opened the scoring for the visitors in the first period with a power-play marker from Chase Dayaram and Sammy Evangelista the Tigers would respond with four goals of their own during the next fifteen minutes of play.

Alex Thai would capitalize on the powerplay from Shields and Zachary White, and Owen Crabbe, assisted by Hayden Turner and White, would get the Falcons back within one before Laszlo's second of the game provided a little insurance for the home side. Matteo Mete, two assists, and Miller Miotto, Jonah Bello, Carson McComber, Mason Risto, Julian Belcastro, Colby Franchetti, Denton Helder and Jared Duerden were all credited with single helpers as the Tigers' passing game was much improved over Saturday's effort.

The teams racked up sixteen minutes of penalties apiece in this back half of their home-and-home set that sees the Tigers improve to 4-0 in Niagara District Peewee Belcot Group A round-robin play and the Falcons drop to 0-4. Welland is now 36-0-4 against Niagara-based teams this season including a 7-0-1 record against Garden City, outscoring them by a cumulative total of 40 to 13.

The Tigers are back in action on the road Saturday afternoon at 1:50pm against the Dunnville Mudcats, who have matched up well against them this season, with only eleven goals scored between the teams in the four previous contests, which included two Welland victories and two ties.
