Tigers Advance Past Falcons, Earn Berth In OMHA Quarterfinals

The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers punched their ticket into the next playoff round with a 4-3 victory over Garden City on Friday night.

Miller Miotto scored twice, including the game-winner with 1:23 to play, as Welland closed out the series with their Highway 406 rivals on home ice. Chace Buti opened the game's scoring with a quick strike at the twenty-two second mark and Julian Belcastro netted the other Tigers goal during the third period as Welland took the four-point series with consecutive wins. Assists on the night were credited to Mason Risto with two, and Belcastro, Ashlyn Armstrong, Tanner Cutler, Hudson Kipp, Colby Franchetti and Jared Duerden with one each.

Simon Dobrovolski netted a pair for the Falcons with Michael Magnotta recording the other visitor's tally. Hensley O'Hara, Magnotta and Rhys McAdam picked up helpers on the evening.

Welland advances to play the winner of the St. Thomas/Erie-North Shore six-point series that St. Thomas currently leads four points to zero.
