Tigers Dethrone Kings
There's a new King in town, for one night at least.
The Welland Niagara Street Pharmacy Tigers decided a change in government was in order last night, upsetting the undefeated and division-leading Grimsby Peach Kings 5-3 in NDHL Atom Doherty league play.
The Tigers playing in their first game at home delighted their fans with a total team effort, shutting down Grimsby's potent offence. Kaleb Séguin recorded a pair of goals and Preston Wainwright, Carter Kipp and Nicolas DiPietro each chipped in one goal apiece as the Tigers won their fourth straight, carrying the momentum over from their Caledonia Challenge Cup Championship on the weekend.
Kierran McKenna, Jeremy Talsma and Lukas Boetlger scored for Grimsby.
Welland, now 1-2-1 in league play is idle until they host Glanbrook next Monday night at 6:50pm.
