Tigers Triple Falcons
Jordan Raso, Blake Turner and Josh Lamb each scored as the Welland Telus Tigers handed the Garden City Falcons a 3-1 loss in major peewee A divisional play in Welland on Wednesday night.
The Falcons largely dominated the gameplay throughout but it was not until seven minutes remaining in the third period that Cole Crowthers was able to put one past Lukas Biggar denying his shutout bid.
Wednesday's defeat was the second in a row for St. Catharines while Welland has back-to-back wins for the first time in league play since the beginning of November.
The Tigers, now 12-7-4 in regular season, host the 17-4-2 Thorold Blackhawks on Friday night at 7pm. This sets up to be a goaltender's duel as Thorold boasts the league's best goals-against, allowing only 42 in 23 games and Welland only sitting three goals back at 45 in 23 games. Offensively the teams are nearly dead even with Thorold having scored 76 to Welland's 75. In their only previous meeting this season, Welland defeated Thorold 4-0 back in October.
