Tigers Take Division Lead With 5-0 Win Over Thorold
The Welland Telus Tigers improved to 12-2-5 on the season and kept their thirteen game undefeated streak intact by downing the Thorold Blackhawks 5-0 in Niagara District Peewee Doherty action in Welland on Wednesday evening.

Bryson Farr recorded his fifth shutout of 2018 and Welland returned to the top of the league standings with their seventh straight victory on home ice.

Nicolas DiPietro accounted for the only goal of the first period when he scored nearly three-and-a-half minutes into the game assisted by Carter Kipp and Mitchell Tomaino. Welland would nurse that slim lead until Tomaino scored with thirteen seconds left in the second period to make it 2-0 on helpers from Tyler Rowland and Kipp.

Eli Moormann, from Kaleb Seguin, put the home side up 3-0 with 11:23 to go and Kipp was set up from Tomaino and DiPietro as Welland pulled ahead 4-0 with 3:30 to play. Tyler Rowland capitalized on Welland's only powerplay of the night to make it 5-0 with 1:19 remaining with Kipp and Tomaino collecting their third assists for four points each on the night.

The Tigers penalty-kill was perfect, keeping Thorold off the scoreboard during their eight minutes of powerplay time.

Welland travels to Stoney Creek on Sunday afternoon to square off against the 11-3-2 Glanbrook Rangers at 5:30pm.
