Tigers Hand Rangers Their First Regular Season Loss
The Welland Telus Tigers skated to their sixth straight victory in divisional play, defeating the previously undefeated Glanbrook Rangers 3-1 in Niagara District Peewee Doherty action in Welland on Wednesday night.

The visitors would take an early lead on the powerplay just over two minutes into the game on a beautiful deflection from Nico Cavoto but the Tigers would even the score five minutes later when Kaleb Séguin feathered a fantastic pass up to Eli Moormann who finished it off with nice hands of his own to make it 1-1 with three minutes remaining in the opening period.

Mitchell Tomaino would set up Nicolas DiPietro's game-winning powerplay goal with a great feed from the left corner just over three minutes into the second and Séguin would slide the puck through Hunter Lozecki's pads while both players were sprawled along the ice with only twelve seconds remaining in the middle frame to give the Tigers some breathing room. Nolan Hemauer, Tyler Rowland and Carter Risto would contribute the secondary assists on the evening.

Welland was able to hold off the Rangers in the final fifteen minutes with some great defensive hockey, and excellent goaltending from Bryson Farr whenever he was called upon, to improve their regular season record to 10-2-3.

The Tigers travel to St. Catharines to resume the Battle of Highway 406 with the Garden City Falcons, who currently share second place with an identical record, on Saturday night at 7pm.
