Tigers Claw Their Way To First Place
With a win and two ties this week the Welland Mike Knapp Ford Tigers
(11-4-7) claimed sole possession of first place in the NDHL Midget
Belcot standings. As of Sunday night the Tigers lead the division with
29 points. Welland AE, Pelham and Garden City sit in a three-way tie for
second place at 28 points.
Welland defeated Fort Erie 4-1 on Wednesday night with Nathan Gallen, Jacob Shirley, Ryan Kajaste and Mitch Chastelet each finding the twine. Connor Hebbourn recorded the lone Meteors tally.
The Tigers then skated to a 2-2 draw at home on Thursday against Lincoln with Thomas Myslowka and Kajaste recording the Welland goals and Eric Lowe and Thomas Davis responding for the Blades. On Sunday night Niagara Falls scored two late goals against a tired Welland squad with only 12 skaters to salvage a 3-3 stalemate in Welland's third game of the week. Gallen, Kajaste and Myslowka scored for Welland with Daniel Krowchuk, Gianluca Cardillo and Caleb Kim answering for the Flyers.
