Tigers Counted Out On Goals That Didn't Count
The Mike Knapp Ford Tigers could not get goals to count when it counted.

Two disallowed goals in their final preliminary game prevented the Welland Mike Knapp Ford Minor Midget A Tigers from advancing to the Semi-final round at the Silver Stick Regional Qualifier in Woodstock this past weekend.

After a 6-1 loss to the powerhouse Brantford 99ers on Friday night the Tigers rebounded with a 3-1 win over the St. Thomas Stars on Saturday morning to position themselves well for a Semi-final berth. Needing only a win or tie to move on, the Tigers were facing the Burlington Eagles, a team who they have matched up well against as the teams had split their four previous meetings in the pre-season. Unfortunately, Welland would end up on the wrong end of a 4-1 result with Burlington sealing the victory with a late empty-net goal. Thomas Myslowka would score the lone Tigers goal that counted, after two previous goals were disallowed which reversed the game's momentum.

Ryan Kajaste would continue his dominant play of late netting the only goal in the 6-1 loss to Brantford, his 9th goal in three games and Mitchell Chastelet would record a hat-trick in the 3-1 victory over St. Thomas.

In league play prior to the tournament Kajaste scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Grimsby on the road to improve the Tigers regular season record to 4-0-3.
