Season Cancellation
Submitted By WMHA Executive on Saturday, January 23, 2021
Date: January 23, 2021

Hello WHMA Members,

The WMHA Executive Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020/2021 season.   With recent provincial stay-at-home requirements, our local arena facilities will remain closed until at least mid-February.  In addition, the City of Welland has closed the Jack Ballantyne Youth Arena which further restricts our opportunity to operate.

Members who registered for 2020/2021 WMHA season will automatically receive a credit for the remaining balance of their registration fees. Credits will be carried forward to the 2021/2022 season.  In the next few weeks, WMHA will issue each member a notice of credit available and a credit reference to be used with registration for next season.

For players that are in their final season and will be aging out, please contact WMHA Treasurer (Donny D’Innocenzo) [email protected] to arrange for refund.  All refund requests must be submitted by March 1, 2021.  All refunds will be provided by cheque.

*Please note - participants who received funding from Jumpstart or another form of financial assistance will not receive this money in form of a credit or refund. All financial assistance money will be returned to the appropriate organization.

Collection of WMHA jerseys and equipment will be scheduled for spring 2021.  Please stay tuned for further notification.

WMHA Executive Board will continue to meet virtually over the next few months.  The group is preparing for updates to our WMHA bylaws and Operations Manual for the 2021/2022 season.   Plans are underway for a special meeting to be called in March and hosted virtually to ratify new bylaws with our membership.  WMHA will look to host a virtual AGM in late April 2021.   Notice will be sent out to members 30 days prior for election opportunities.

WMHA sends our members well wishes and we hope for a safe return to our beloved game in September and regular scheduled programing.

Respectfully,

WMHA Executive Board and Staff
