The Welland Mike Knapp Ford Minor Midget A Tigers had a perfect weekend
in Newmarket. Defending the International Silver Stick Championship that
they won last season at Major Bantam A in Port Huron, MI the team went 7-0 to capture the
International Silver Stick title once again at the Minor Midget A level.
Welland cruised through the round-robin with a 6-1 win over New
Hamburg, a 7-0 victory over Montgomery, a 4-3 win over Applewood and a
4-1 defeat of Boulder. The Tigers then beat Collingwood 5-0 in the
quarterfinal, Applewood 2-1 in the semi-final and Bradford 5-2 in the
