On Saturday, West Niagara made the trip down the QEW for a 6:40 puck drop. A moment of silence was held as Liam Boverhof had played with some of the guys on West Niagara; a wonderful gesture. The game was back and forth, both teams trading chances. Both goalies were on their games resulting in a close game. It would take an impressive individual effort in the 2nd period by Noah Carl who carried the puck out of the Welland zone, bursting past opposing defence, and scoring as he was dragged down. An incredible play. While holding the lead, Ian Boon made some impressive and important saves. However, West Niagara would eventually tie the game. With the game tied, more chances were traded as the game started to get a little chippy. Getting late in the 3rd, Jarod Tessier would fire the puck towards the net, a Chris Angelo deflection would give the Tigers the lead and ultimately win the game. This was not Welland’s best performance, but showed they can find ways to win; important down the stretch. Player of the game goes to Noah Carl.
