On Saturday October 25, the Welland Major Midget A Tigers resumed season play by hosting the Thorold Blackhawks. Thorold jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, scoring on 2, 5 on 3 power plays. Combining the lack of discipline and slow start, it would take a test of character to get a result. The 3rd period was a proper showing of how the Tigers expect to play. Leading by example, Captain Hayden Scott led the charge in the comeback. Scott scored early in the 3rd to break the shutout and get on the board. With the Tigers buzzing, a stretch pass from Lucas D’innocenzo onto the stick of Brodie Morabito who skated down the wing, fired short-side and scored to make it a one goal game. With time running out, and the goalie pulled; a wild scramble ensued in front of the Thorold net. Finally the flutter shot went in with Liam Boverhof scoring the tying goal. The game ended tied but a real character performance in the 3rd period gave the Tigers that result. The Tigers have a busy week on the road where they go down the QEW to play Grimsby in a late 9:00pm puck drop. Thursday the Tigers visit the Sailors and then return home next Saturday to host the St. Catharines Falcons.
