Tigers Earn Passing Grade Against Sailors
Dayton Flatt and Tyler Ray scored twice each to lead the Welland Telus Tigers past the Port Colborne Sailors in major peewee action on Monday night in the lakeside city.
Terrific passing was the key to the Tigers offense as Ryan Reeves, Alexander McQuillan and Flatt all provided perfect setups which led to the evening's goals. Sean Sinclair was also credited with an assist on the Tigers final tally, Ray's second of the game.
Wylde Winger responded with a powerplay marker for the Sailors as each team converted only once on their numerous powerplay chances. Welland racked up sixteen minutes in penalties to Port Colborne's fifteen minutes as emotions ramped up in the game's latter stages and culminated with a cross-checking major infraction with four minutes remaining which sidelined Flatt.
Welland, now 7-2-1 in league play, returns to the ice Wednesday night in Pelham with a 7:40pm start against the Panthers.
