Tigers Slip Past Bombers
The Welland Telus Tigers scored twice in the third period to edge the Glancaster Bombers 3-1 in major peewee A action on Saturday night in Glanbrook.

While Glancaster has yet to find the win column during league play thus far, they certainly gave the Tigers all they could handle and are a much better team than their record might indicate at first glance.

Seven of their eight regular season games played have been decided by two goals or less and once again they proved to be a difficult opponent to defeat, with goaltending at both ends of the ice being excellent.

Dayton Flatt would get Welland on the scoreboard first at 5:43 of the opening period but the Bombers would tie things up only forty-two seconds later when Cole Ruthowsky would score on assists from Jackson Heywood and Benjamin Patterson.

This is how things would remain until Josh Lamb would convert on the powerplay with just under thirteen minutes to play on a helper from Flatt.

Blake Turner would add an insurance marker with 1:24 left to play, assisted by Tyler Ray, to ice the victory for the visiting Tigers in a close contest that became quite physical in the final few minutes.

Welland improves to 6-2-1 in divisional play and will travel to Port Colborne on Monday for a 7:10pm start before heading to Pelham on Wednesday for a 7:40pm matchup.
