Tigers Breeze Past Windless Sailors
The Port Colborne Sailors encountered rough seas as they sailed into the frozen waters of the Welland Main Arena last night.

The Welland Telus Tigers were the ones who looked ship-shape as they cruised to a 7-0 victory in Niagara District major peewee action on Friday night.

Alexander McQuillan opened the scoring 7:17 into the game, Josh Lamb added an insurance marker at 9:06 of the second period and then the home side were the ones under full sail in the third when they pulled away with pairs of goals from Dayton Flatt and Ryan Reeves and a single tally from Blake Turner.

Flatt, Jordan Raso, Austin Gulla, Tyler Ray, McQuillan, Jaxon Vanderlip, Turner and Sean Sinclair all picked up assists on the evening as Welland extended their league-leading goals-for total to 27 after five games played.

Lukas Biggar stood tall in the home crease making some big saves in the final few minutes to preserve his second consecutive shutout in as many starts this week.

Both teams failed to capitalize on the man-advantage, each going 0-for-1 on the powerplay.

Welland, now 4-1 in league play, travel to Haldimand County next weekend to compete in the Caledonia Challenge Cup. The Tigers will take on the Parry Sound Shamrocks at 3pm Friday, the Hespeler Shamrocks at 8am Saturday and the Huntsville Otters at 1pm on Saturday in round-robin action.
