Tigers Take Overtime Thriller
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the St. Thomas Stars in overtime to force a fourth game in their six point OMHA Quarterfinal series.
After another scoreless first period, the third in this series, Lucas Delellis and Tayven Barned staked the visitors to a two-goal second period lead before the Tigers mounted their comeback with Miller Miotto and Julian Belcastro knotting the game at two heading into the final fifteen minutes of play.
The teams would skate through a scoreless third forcing a ten-minute sudden-victory overtime period. Carson McComber scored a short-handed marker only eighteen seconds into extra time to force a fourth game in the series which will be played Saturday afternoon at 1:50pm at Welland's Main Arena.
Tanner Cutler, Colby Franchetti, Chace Buti and Mason Risto collected assists for the Tigers on the evening. Luke Ordronneau answered with a pair of helpers for the Stars with Jaden Van de Ven also credited with a helper on the night.
