Tigers Take Care Of Business And The Warriors, Advance As Top Seed To Semis
Submitted By Justin Disher on Sunday, February 2, 2020
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers advanced to the semi-finals of Niagara District OMHA Preliminaries as the top-seed after defeating the Stoney Creek Warriors 2-0 on Sunday morning.

Jordan Wright kicked things off with a goal from Denton Helder seven minutes into the game and Carson McComber added an insurance marker one minute later from Tyler Laszlo as Welland shut down the potent offence of the Warriors through excellent defensive coverage all over the ice. Riley Caron earned his second shutout of the weekend and sixth overall with relative ease as the Tigers completely dominated play throughout the forty minutes.

The Tigers (5-0-0) will square off against the Glancaster Bombers (2-3) at 6pm with Stoney Creek (3-1-1) playing the Garden City Falcons (3-2) in the other semi-final at 4:30pm. The winners of each game will play each other in a 4-point series this week to determine the Niagara District entry into the OMHA Quarterfinal round.
