Meteors Fall To Tigers
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers skated to a 7-0 road victory over the Fort Erie AE Meteors on Friday night in minor peewee divisional play to improve to a league leading 19-0-2 at the Christmas break.
Tanner Cutler and Colby Franchetti led the way with two goals each and Miller Miotto, Townes Bestward and Matteo Mete added singles as Welland picked up its eleventh consecutive win.
Hudson Kipp, Miotto and Franchetti were also credited with a pair of assists and single helpers were provided by Jared Duerden, Bestward and Mason Risto.
It was a relatively quiet game whistle-wise as Welland was 3-for-3 in defending short-handed situations and 0-for-2 with the extra attacker on the evening.
Braxton Fleguel picked up his fifth shutout of the season.
The Tigers are idle over the holidays and will return to action on January 4th against their hometown rivals, the Welland AE Tigers, in their only meeting of the season at 1:50pm in the Main Arena.
