Tigers Record Tenth Win In Peewee Belcot Division
Like a fisherman that has to battle to reel in a big prize, the Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers had to tire out Boden Desrochers before they could bring in the catch against the Dunnville AE Mudcats, their tenth win of the regular season.

Desrochers kept the league's most potent offense off the scoreboard for nearly the entire first two periods of play before they were finally able to solve him en route to an 8-0 victory in Niagara District minor peewee action at the Welland Arena on Wednesday evening.

Julian Belcastro would finally break through with the night's first goal with thirty-six seconds remaining in the second period from Hudson Kipp and Jared Duerden to put the home side into the lead.

Duerden, who was later named the player of the game by the coaching staff, then set up Matteo Mete three minutes into the third to add some insurance. Colby Franchetti would score from Ashlyn Armstrong and Jonah Bello just over a minute later to finally give the Tigers some breathing room and allow the home crowd to breathe a sigh of relief.

Miller Miotto and Tyler Laszlo would score only nine seconds apart about four minutes later as the Tigers started to pull away, with Franchetti, Bello, Belcastro and Carson Mccomber providing the helpers. Tanner Cutler would score twice, with Miotto and Franchetti assisting on both with 2:53 and 2:27 left to play and McComber would round out the offense with an unassisted marker with 2:18 remaining as Welland improved to 10-0-2. Braxton Fleguel was in between the pipes for his second shutout of the week, and fourth overall.

Welland was 1-for-2 with the man-advantage while Dunnville was thwarted on its only opportunity with the extra attacker.

The Tigers travel to Virgil for a 12:10pm puck-drop on Saturday against the Niagara-on-the-Lake Wolves.
