Tigers Reel In Mudcats
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers landed the big one on Tuesday night in Dunnville by defeating the Mudcats 3-1 on their own pond in Niagara District minor peewee action.

There was nothing "fishy" about this victory as Welland played a very solid game throughout and was able to spend alot more time trawling for offense in the deeper waters of the offensive zone.

Tanner Cutler would put the visitors on the board first with a goal that was assisted by Colby Franchetti just over six minutes in. Welland would extend that lead to two on Jared Duerden's powerplay goal in the second which was set up nicely by Hudson Kipp and Cutler.

Justin McNab, assisted by Owen Taylor and Logan Tuin, would answer back for the home side who took advantage of their extra attacker as well with just under twelve minutes to play but that is as close as they would get as Braxton Fleguel would slam the door the rest of the way.

Tyler Laszlo would add an insurance marker with six-and-a-half minutes remaining from Chace Buti and Mason Risto to seal the outcome.

The Tigers improved to 6-0-1 on the season despite amassing 20 minutes in penalties to Dunnville's 12. Special teams were only ordinary tonight, with Welland making good on 1 of 6 chances and Dunnville converting on 1 of 3 opportunities with the extra player.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow at home when they host the Glancaster Bombers at 7:20pm.
