Tigers Win Fourth Straight
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers capitalized on four of five powerplays en route to a 17-0 victory over the Port Colborne AE Sailors in minor peewee action on Wednesday night.
Julian Belcastro opened the scoring twenty-six seconds in as the home side built up a 5-0 advantage after the opening ten minutes. Welland scored seven more times in the second and added on five in the third as the Sailors struggled to counter the Tigers speed, managing only a handful of shots on Riley Caron who earned his second straight shutout this week. The Sailors were unable to convert on any of their five opportunities with the extra attacker as Welland's penalty-killing was once again perfect.
All fifteen Tigers skaters contributed at least one point each with Belcastro leading the charge with four goals and two assists. Tyler Laszlo, Colby Franchetti, Chace Buti, and Matteo Mete had two goals apiece and Carson McComber, Hudson Kipp, Mason Risto, Miller Miotto and Jared Duerden each netted single tallies.
With the victory, the Tigers improve to 4-0 in league play and are idle until next Wednesday when they host the 5-1 Dunnville Mudcats on Wednesday at 7:20pm.
