Caron Shines Against Warriors As Tigers Remain Undefeated
A ten day layoff between league games and playing against players one year older didn't seem to phase the Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers. It took only one minute and eight seconds for the home side to set the tone as they struck first against the Stoney Creek Major Peewee AE Warriors in Saturday's battle of undefeated teams.

Carson McComber put the home side on the scoreboard only one minute and eight seconds into the game and Tanner Cutler extended the lead two-and-a-half minutes later as the Tigers jumped out to an early lead against the 3-0 Warriors.

Nathan Chan would get one back for the visitors less than a minute later and that is how things would stay until Mason Risto restored the two goal Welland advantage just under two minutes into the second period.

Nicholas Cipro would get the Warriors back within one six minutes into the third but lack of discipline would finally catch up to the visitors as they were assessed eight minutes in penalties in the last six minutes of play. Prior to their extended time in the sin bin Stoney Creek had been pressing hard for the equalizer and if not for some terrific netminding from Riley Caron and defensive coverage that continues to improve from the home side, the game may have had a different outcome. Despite being undersized the Tigers refused to be bullied and stood their ground well against the larger Warriors all while avoiding the penalty trouble that has plagued them in recent games.

Tyler Laszlo would give the Tigers some breathing room as he scored with six minutes remaining as the Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season with the 4-2 victory.

Julian Belcastro, Cutler, Miller Miotto, McComber, Matteo Mete and Jordan Wright were all credited with assists on the afternoon.

Neither team would capitalize on the powerplay, with Welland going 0-for-4 and Stoney Creek held scoreless on two opportunities.

Welland returns to action after the Thanksgiving break with a home game on Wednesday night against the Port Colborne AE Sailors starting at 7:20pm.
