Tigers Edge Flyers For Win In Home-Opener
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers improved to 2-0 in minor peewee A divisional play with a 3-2 win over the Niagara Falls Flyers in their home-opener at Welland's Main Arena on Wednesday night.

Jaxson Hess, assisted by Lucas Joseph Panucci, would open the scoring for the visitors with a goal only 98 seconds into the game but their lead was short-lived as Colby Franchetti would get the Tigers back to even about half a minute later on helpers from Ashlyn Armstrong and Mason Risto.

Tyler Laszlo, from Chace Buti and Matteo Mete, would then put the home side into the lead with a powerplay goal with just over two minutes remaining in the first period which Welland would hold until Parker Dolan (unassisted) tied the game at two with just under nine minutes left to play in the third.

Tanner Cutler would record the game-winning goal with 6:24 remaining on passes from Julian Belcastro and Carson McComber.

Welland was 1 for 2 on the powerplay; Niagara Falls went 0-for-3.

Next up for the Tigers is a matinee contest at home with the Stoney Creek AE Warriors at 1:50pm on Saturday October 12.
