Tigers Skate To Third Straight Tie
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers (0-1-4) travelled to Valley Park Arena on Tuesday night to battle the Stoney Creek Warriors in a reprise of last year's Niagara District OMHA Preliminaries Championship Series.

While the Tigers seemed to have Stoney Creek's number last season, winning six of seven meetings between the two clubs, they are learning the hard way that goals are not as easy to come by at the Minor Peewee level.

The Tigers were fortunate to skate away with their third straight tie this week thanks in part to another solid effort in goal by Riley Caron.

Henry Allen staked the home side to a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game with an impressive blast from close range and it was not until nearly the five minute mark of the third period that Carson McComber was able to net the equalizer.

To their credit, Welland successfully killed off all six minutes in penalties they were assessed and perhaps if the final three minutes of play had been played out instead of being curfewed they may have found a way to win but it did not seem likely given their level of play during the initial 32 minutes.

These same two teams will meet on Wednesday night in Welland with puck drop scheduled for 7:20pm.
