Tigers Clip Falcons' Wings
In their last home game of the regular season the Welland Niagara Street Pharmacy/Gene's Skate Sharpening Tigers defeated the Garden City Falcons 7-0 in Niagara District Atom Doherty league play on Monday night.
Colby Franchetti recorded a natural hat-trick in the first period giving the Tigers an insurmountable lead after the game's first ten minutes. Julian Belcastro would add another in the second period and Tanner Cutler, Carter Kelly and Townes Bestward would pile on three more in the final fifteen minutes as the game became very chippy. Franchetti and Belcastro each collected two helpers on the night with Jordan Wright, Tanner Cutler, Evan Corriveau, Mason Risto, Carson McComber, Jonah Bello, Brennen Hagar and Matteo Mete also picking up single assists as the Tigers puck movement was exceptional.
Corriveau made a tremendous save in the final minutes to preserve his third shutout of the season as Welland won its fifteenth straight league game and improved to 21-2-3.
Welland travels to Niagara-on-the-Lake Tuesday night to take on the second-place Wolves at 7:10pm
