Tigers Eke Out Win Against Meteors
Tanner Cutler scored twice and Carson McComber once as the Welland Niagara Street Pharmacy/Gene's Skate Sharpening Tigers struggled to defeat the Fort Erie Meteors 3-2 on Friday night at the Leisureplex.

Welland improved to 9-2-3 on the season, winning their third game in a row in league play despite a lackadaisical effort at both ends of the ice.

To their credit Fort Erie played a physical and determined game and deserved a better fate against a more talented Tigers team that skated just hard enough to salvage the victory.

Tanner Cutler would put Welland on the scoreboard just over two minutes into the game and the Tigers held on to that slim advantage until Dekin Hill knotted the game at one nearly three minutes into the second period. Cutler would once again find the mesh, this time with the man advantage, to stake the Tigers to a one goal lead with 5:30 to play in the second but Fort Erie would battle back to tie the game on Brentin Porter's powerplay goal with 8:32 left to play in the third.

The Tigers would eke out the victory on Carson McComber's goal with 1:35 left to play.

On Monday night the Tigers will host the 3-6-6 Thorold Blackhawks at 6:50pm in search of their fourth consecutive win in Niagara District Atom Doherty action.
