Welland Blue Thunder went into the Jordan Christmas Tournament Dec 27 28 2016
With an impressive start to first game winning 5-1 over Jordan Flames.
CYO red Wings were next and defeating them 8-2. last game of round robin was a nail biter going into 3rd period down 3 to 1 to Grimsby Kings and coming back to win in regulation 4-3
Welland was top seed semi-final game against Grimsby Penguins Both teams Fought Back and forth for the lead Welland had the lead in the last minutes of period three but Grimsby fought hard to tie it up in the last 30 seconds to force a 5min overtime.
with the score tied at 3 a piece Over time did not decide a winner. SHOOT OUT!
Welland had 3 shots could not find the back of the net.
Grimsby had 3 shots and netted one.
Grimsby moved on to Finals.
Still very proud of the Welland boys the fought hard and made it to the semi's.
