Tigers Stepping Up Against AA Teams
The
Welland Mike Knapp Ford Minor Midget A Tigers have begun their
preseason by earning their stripes against AA-calibre teams in recent
weeks. A recent exhibition game with Niagara Falls Minor Midget AA ended
in a 1-1 draw with Ardis Peterson recording the lone Welland goal and
Alex Page responding for Niagara Falls.
The Tigers then competed in the Mississauga Early Bird tournament where they tied the Mississauga Braves 2-2, defeated the Mississauga North Stars 8-1 and lost 4-0 to the top-ranked AA team in Ontario, the Mississauga Ice Warriors, who have already won both the Richmond Hill and Mississauga Early Bird tournaments. Daniel Legault and Gavin Boorsma provided the Tigers' offence against Braves and Noah Belanger netted a hat-trick against the North Stars. Belanger was joined on the scoresheet by Jarret Heidebrecht who scored a pair and Legault and Boorsma who again recorded singles against the North Stars.
