Game 7 Recap

Team Player Michael Snyder (Middle)
Smooth Moves Spencer Main (Left)
Game Grinder Mackenzie Covey (Right)

The Black Knights hosted Thorold Blackhawks #2 today. Our defence performed very well today and the Blackhawks had a heck of a time getting to our net. Connor Wright kept the lane in front of our keeper clear and set up some nice breakouts as well as skating the puck into the Thorold end on several occassions. Grant Sinclair contributed with some hard point blasts and some quick turn around breakouts. Landon Gibbs also let our keeper see the shots that did get through and made a couple of nice pinches on the opposition blue line to keep the pressure on. Collin VanDongen showed some zip rushing the puck from the back and made sure any pucks down the boards made it out when we were in our end. Eric Edwards has been joining the rush lately and is showing good anticipation when the puck is loose near the boards in the opponents end to keep it down low for our forwards. Spencer Main and Mackenzie Covey have found their groove with Spencer working the puck down low and Mac forechecking like a maniac giving the Thorold D fits in their own end. Spencer was given the Smooth Moves Star and MacKenzie the Game Grinder for her determined performance. Jordan Dekoe gave it her all and is winning battles along the boards in both ends as well as some nice feeds to a breaking team mate coming out of our zone. Desmond Leavens was oh so close today as he stole the puck near the Thorold goal and bulled his way down the boards forechecking in the Blackhawks end. Blake Silenzi turned in another good game, had control along the boards starting the breakout, made sure the puck got out of the zone and had a few chances in the opposition end. Trent Brogan had his head up more this game, made some good passes to the slot and had some chances of his own to score. Dylan Elsie showed some good stick work getting the puck deep into enemy territory and was close on a couple of nice feeds from his linemates. Sam Desormiers mixed it up a little today and is keeping his feet going getting to loose pucks in our end. Kaden Falardeau continued his hard work ethic and gave his all every shift setting the bar high for his Team mates. Kaden continues to give opposition squads fits as he forechecks and backchecks like this Coach loves to see. Michael Snyder turned away all rubber today and although he didn't see a lot of shots due to his Defence, was more than up to it when one did get through. A couple of nice glove grabs put an exclamation point on his game today and Mike was given the Team Player Star for a job well done. A good game today from everybody.
